Libya's HoR Speaker, Williams Hold Talks in Qubba

The Libyan Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, met on Wednesday, with the UN Secretary General’s Advisor on Libya, Stephanie Williams, in Qubba.

At the outset of the meeting, Aqila briefed UN officials on the action plan for the two chambers based on Constitutional Amendment 12, including the establishment of the joint 24-member experts committee to review the 2017 draft constitution.

They also discussed ways to ensure that the two chambers reach a consensual formula within the shortest timeframe possible, to enable the holding of elections to respect the will of the 2.8 million Libyan citizens who have registered to vote.

Moreover, Williams underlined the need to ensure the participation of women, youth & cultural components in the committee’s membership.
