On Wednesday, the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, assigned Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant-General Abdel Razek Al-Nadhori, to the position of LNA commander for a period of three months, a step which could lead to his candidacy in elections later this year.
The three-month period starts from tomorrow, Thursday, September 23, until December 24, according to a statement issued by the General Command.
The first article of the decision says that Al-Nadhori would be assigned the duties of Commander-in-Chief, “and has all the powers stipulated under Law No. 1 of 2015 regarding the position of Commander-in-Chief.”
The second article of the decision says that “Al-Nadhori will assume the duties of the Commander-in-Chief for a period of three months, starting from September 23, until December 24.”
