Libyan Minister of State for Prime Minister Affairs, Adel Jumaa, was wounded in an armed attack in Tripoli after his vehicle was targeted by a hail of gunfire.
According to reports, the minister sustained two gunshot wounds to his legs when his car came under heavy fire on the highway near Palm City.
His vehicle was struck by 14 bullets, prompting his immediate transfer to the intensive care unit at Abu Salim Hospital for emergency treatment.
So far, the Government of National Unity and security authorities have not issued any official statements regarding the incident or the identity of those responsible.
Security forces have heightened their presence in the area as investigations continue to determine the circumstances behind the attack.
