The Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced that as of Monday 26th of October 2020, the closure of all oil fields and ports has ended.

In its statement, NOC added that instructions have been given to the operator, Mellitah Company to start production from the Elephant oil field and to gradually return Mellitah crude to its normal levels in the coming days.

In this regard, NOC Chairman Mustafa Sanallah said that the Libyans understood that the blockade was extremely negative on their daily lives, and they strongly support resumption of production.

In a related context, Sanallah urged the importance of controlling the media discourse related to production. He stressed that the only reliable source to announce the expected production quantities is issued by NOC`s production department.

He added that oil production is carried out in line with the arrangements in the Joint Ministerial Committee for Monitoring Oil Production in OPEC and OPEC Plus.
