Lebanon's former prime minister Saad Al-Hariri announced on Sunday that he will not be a candidate to form the new government, a day after Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Adib stepped down, according to Sputnik News agency.
In an official statement, Hariri said that he supports the initiative by French President Emmanuel Macron and “facilitating anything that could make it succeed because it is the only and last opportunity to stop the collapse of Lebanon.”

It is worth mentioning that, Adib stepped down on Saturday after failing to form a government, leaving the nation rudderless as it struggles to recover from a devastating explosion at its main port last month.
About 190 people were killed in last month’s explosion (4th August) and a swathe of Beirut near the port was ruined.
The blast was caused by a huge store of ammonium nitrate that had been kept at the port in poor condition for years.
