Various regions in Lebanon witnessed long queues of people waiting for their turn to buy eggs before they are all sold out.
Lebanon witnesses an eggs’ crisis because farmers refused to deliver sufficient amounts to the merchants with a price that was previously agreed on in order to force them raise the prices.
Pictures of long queues were circulated on social media platforms. Dozens of buyers expressed their fears that the eggs’ price may rise, amid speculations that the government will cut the eggs’ subsidiaries.
The price of eggs ranges from 12,500 Lebanese lira per carton (the price set by the ministries of economy and agriculture) to 16,000 Lebanese lira per carton.
