Lebanon Received Arrest Warrant from Interpol for Central Bank Governor

The Lebanese Minister of Interior said that Lebanon had received an arrest warrant from Interpol for Riad Salameh, the governor of the Central Bank, according to Reuters.

The French judge in charge of investigating the funds and property of the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon (Banque du Liban) in Europe issued an international arrest warrant against him after he was absent from his interrogation session before her in Paris.

And the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh, had confirmed that he would appeal the decision of the French judge to issue a warrant for his arrest, considering that the warrant was a violation of French and international laws.

Salameh said in a statement today, that the French judge made her decision based on preconceived ideas.

And the French news agency indicated that prosecutors in France intend to file preliminary charges against the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh, on charges of “fraud.”
