Late this Saturday, the Lebanese Army announced that an Israeli naval vessel violated Lebanese territorial waters off the coast of Ras al-Naqoura in the south of the country.
According to a Lebanese Army statement dated August 25, 2023, "from 6:50 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., an Israeli military boat breached Lebanese territorial waters by approximately 300 meters off Ras al-Naqoura." The army also mentioned that the breach is being monitored in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), as reported by the Lebanese News Agency.
In a related development, Lebanese security forces arrested a group accused of spying for Israel as they attempted to leave the country from Beirut International Airport. The head of Lebanon's General Security said that the group, comprising two individuals, was apprehended before leaving the country and posed a threat to national security.
Earlier, Lebanese security forces confiscated Israeli goods being sold in Lebanese stores after raiding several warehouses and shops across Lebanese provinces.
The Lebanon-Israel border is currently witnessing a high level of security tensions, amid warnings of escalating violence in the region.
