Lebanese Interim Prime Minister Najib Mikati has taken swift action in response to Israel's alleged violation of Lebanon's sovereignty.
Following the attack on a Hamas office in southern Beirut believed to be the result of an Israeli drone strike, Mikati has instructed the foreign minister to file an urgent complaint with the UN Security Council.
This incident led to six casualties, including Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri and two military chiefs. While Hamas confirmed al-Arouri's death, Lebanon's interim prime minister placed the blame on Israel.
In the wake of this attack, Lebanon's Hezbollah movement has issued a threat of retaliatory strikes against Israel.
Simultaneously, reports from Israeli media suggest that peace talks between Hamas and Israel have stalled due to the strike.
