The Lebanese Minster of Interior and Municipalities Mohamed Fahmy stirred wide uproar for statements he made earlier today, November 14th that seemed to offend many of the Lebanese women.

Fahmy made the comments during a TV interview discussing the total lockdown that is set to be applied in Lebanon starting from tomorrow due to the increased number of COVID-19 cases recently.

The minister was asked about the lockdown that will also include all the food deliveries to which he replied: “That is bad for the health and weakens the people plus everyday delivery? Let the women cook!”.

The comments did not sit well with the social media influencers and feminist organizations that criticized Fahmy’s stereotypical comment and considered it disrespecting and degrading to all the women and their role in the society.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first time Fahmy receives criticism especially after confessing to murdering two people in the war two months ago.
