Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov invited his new Chinese counterpart, Chen Gang, to visit Russia, congratulating him on his assumption of office.
"Sergey Lavrov invited Chinese Foreign Minister Chen Gang to visit Russia at an appropriate time," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"The Russian minister congratulated him on his appointment, and wished him success in his work," it added.
It is worth mentioning that, China announced the appointment of its ambassador to Washington, Chen Gang, as the new foreign minister, to succeed Wang Yi, who has held the position since 2013.
