Residents in Lahore, Pakistan, are facing unprecedented levels of air pollution, as the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) has surged past 1000, making Lahore the most polluted city in the world.

This severe pollution crisis is a growing concern for the city’s population, which is continuously exposed to hazardous air quality levels.

According to Swiss air quality monitoring agency IQAir, Lahore’s concentration of PM2.5 particles—tiny pollutants that pose serious health risks—has reached 613 micrograms per cubic meter.

This reading is an alarming 122.6 times above the World Health Organization’s recommended safe levels, marking a severe public health risk for Lahore’s residents.

The city’s AQI, which measures a range of pollutants, has now hit 1073, surpassing yesterday’s record-breaking figure of 1067.

This toxic smog is reducing visibility to nearly zero, creating hazardous conditions for commuters and disrupting daily activities.

Punjab’s provincial government is struggling to address the pollution crisis, with its current measures proving inadequate against the escalating levels.
