Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan agreed ceasefire after the latest violent border clashes, Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday.

The statement said: “As a result of several negotiations between the ministers of foreign affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan, agreements were reached on a complete ceasefire from 8:00 pm (1400 GMT) and the withdrawal of military forces.”

Yesterday, fierce clashes erupted between the armed forces of both countries after both armies exchanged fires over water resources.

At least five killed and dozens injured in the latest clashes on the long-disputed neighboring countries.

The latest fight between both forces is considered the cruelest in long years as both states are still arguing regarding vast identified lands near the boarders of both.
