Kremlin: Deployment of US Troops in Europe Proves Russia's Legitimate Concerns

The deployment of US troops in Europe has proved Russia's legitimate concerns, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. 

 

In an exclusive statement to ‘CNN’, Peskov added that the "US is continuing to escalate tension in Europe," adding that the deployment of US troops in Europe is “the best proof that we, like Russia, have an obvious reason to be worried."

It is worth mentioning that the Pentagon stressed on Wednesday that the US is seeking to reach a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine crisis, according to the Al-Arabiya news website.

In a statement, the Pentagon added that sending US forces to Europe aims to protect allies.

It is worth mentioning that US President Joe Biden has officially approved the deployment of additional US military forces to Eastern Europe. Meanwhile, the Pentagon is expected to announce that the troops will be deployed in the coming days, US officials told CNN.

The Pentagon is expected to announce that thousands of additional US troops will be deployed in Europe, and the deployments will include about 2,000 US troops in Poland and a few thousand more in NATO’s southeastern countries, including Romania.

Last Friday, Biden also said that he would deploy troops, as Russia continues to build up its forces near Ukraine, raising fears of a renewed invasion, at the same time, diplomatic efforts continue to de-escalate tensions.
