On Friday, King Charles hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace with more than 200 business leaders, lawmakers, and officials, days before the upcoming UN Conference on Climate Change (COP27) in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

The King heard from guests about the measures to combat climate change and their plans for COP27.

The Palace told People Magazine: "As has been made clear previously, in unanimous agreement with Government His Majesty will not be attending COP27. His focus is on the pre-COP reception at Buckingham Palace this Friday, where senior business leaders, experts and NGOs can discuss the important work of the summit and explore ways in which public-private partnership can help tackle climate change."

After the reception, His Majesty planted a lime tree in the Buckingham Palace garden as a new addition to The Queen’s Green Canopy.
