On Friday, King Charles III delivered a speech during the COP28 activities in Dubai, asserting that this edition of COP should be "a critical turning point" in the fight against climate change.

King Charles III was one of the earliest leaders who delivered their speeches at the summit where he addressed several environmental issues, including the future of fossil.

The UK Monarch said: "I pray with all my heart that COP28 will be another critical turning point towards genuine transformational action," adding: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth."

The sense of urgency was asserted by the UN as it said that 2023 is on track to become the hottest year on record. This raised concerns over failing to achieve the goal of limiting the increase of the Earth's temprature to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

COP 28 activities started, on Thursday, with the agreement to launch a "loss and damage" fund for countries deeply impacted by natural disasters.
