North Korea opened its end-of-the-year ruling party meeting, the North Korean state media reported on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by the country's leader Kim Jong Un. The meeting targeted to set the key policies for 2024 that would be revealed.

Kim started to use the plenary meeting of the Workers' Party of Korea as a tool to set the country's strategic policies in the fields of security, diplomacy, and economy.

In 2023, North Korea achieved various successes in the world of satellite launching, nuclear power, and advanced intercontinental ballistic missiles.

During the meeting, Kim described 2023 as a "year of great turn and great change" as well as one of "great importance", North Korean's official Korean Central News Agency said.

Kim added that Pyongyang saw "eye-opening victories and events achieved in all fields for socialist construction and the strengthening of the national power."

He also revealed that Pyongyang's new strategic weapons, including its spy satellite, had "unswervingly put" the North "on the position of a military power".
