North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inspected the construction site of the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm, a major agricultural and infrastructure project in North Pyongan Province, according to state media reports on November 27.
The visit took place on November 26 and was attended by several senior officials of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), including Jo Yong Won, Pak Jong Chon, Kim Jae Ryong, Kim Yong Su, and North Phyongan Provincial Party Secretary Kim Chol Sam. Military officers and members of the Paektusan Hero Youth Shock Brigade involved in the project also greeted him on site.
During the tour, Kim Jong Un examined key facilities such as the dome-shaped hydroponic greenhouse, soil-based greenhouses, main roads, embankment construction work, and landscaping areas. State media reported that overall construction has reached 97 percent completion, with large-scale land development, turf planting, and infrastructure installation nearing their final stages.
Trial operations for electricity, water supply, drainage, residential housing, and public buildings—including a hostel, a nursery, a kindergarten, and service amenities—are already underway.
North Korean authorities describe the Sinuiju project as part of a broader effort to modernize agriculture and improve local living standards. According to the report, surrounding infrastructure, including permanent embankments and new roads, has been upgraded to support the site’s long-term development goals.
