Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, assistant secretary-general of the Arab League and head of the Media and Communication Sector, met Monday with Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Thani, Qatar’s permanent representative to the Arab League, at the Qatari mission in Cairo, according to a press statement.
During the meeting, Khattabi underscored Qatar’s effective role in strengthening joint Arab media action through its follow-up on decisions adopted at the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, held at the League’s headquarters in late November. Particular emphasis was placed on reinforcing Arab media discourse supporting the Palestinian cause on the international media stage.
Khattabi also praised the constructive initiatives of Qatar Media Corporation and its continued cooperation with the Arab League’s Media and Communication Sector, including contributions to shaping a unified Arab media strategy, developing media institutions, and keeping pace with digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
The meeting also reviewed the agenda of upcoming meetings scheduled to be held in Kuwait on Feb. 10–11, 2026.
