Ancient Egypt was the source of inspiration for American pop star Katy Perry’s latest sandal design.

The pop star's fashion label, Katy Perry Collections, released recently summer shoes in black and gold.

The designs feature the pyramids and the ankh — an ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic symbol used in writing and art to represent the word for “life”.

Perry shared photos of her new designs on Instagram and captioned: “Sometimes my real life experiences inspire”.

In 2019, the “Fireworks” singer and her husband Orlando Bloom traveled to Egypt to celebrate her 35th birthday.

The couple visited a number of the country’s historic sites such as Luxor, Aswan, and Siwa Oasis.

In the announcement of her new collection, Perry shared a photo of herself enjoying a camel ride at the pyramids in the evening.

In April, she released heels and flats, in black, gold, and orange. The designs featured the Eye of Horus, an ancient Egyptian symbol that represents well-being, healing, and protection.
