The jury in the sexual offenses trial of Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey has been sent out to begin its deliberations.

The 63-year-old Hollywood star faces 12 charges including sexual assault and indecent assault, which are alleged to have been committed between 2001 and 2013.

He denied nine charges including sexual assault as well as denies seven counts of sexual assault, one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.

Mr. Justice Wall is presiding over the case, which will be heard by a 12-strong jury. Patrick Gibbs KC appears on behalf of the actor while the prosecution is represented by Christine Agney KC and Shauna Ritchie.

Wall sent the jury out to consider its verdicts on Monday at 12.45 p.m. GMT (3.45 a.m. PT).

Throughout the high-profile trial at Southwark Crown Court, each of Spacey’s four accusers has given evidence, variously describing him as a “vile sexual predator,” “slippery” and “atrocious, despicable, disgusting.”

Jurors have been told of alleged “aggressive” crotch grabs against three men, while a fourth accused the defendant of having drugged him and performed a sex act on him while he was asleep at his flat.

Under questioning from Spacey’s lawyer, the men all denied either seeking financial gain, attempting to further their careers, or giving false accounts to the jury.

Spacey himself labeled the allegations against him as “madness” and a “stab in the back.”

High-profile witnesses for the defense have included Elton John, David Furnish, and Jack Lemmon’s son Chris Lemmon.
