Joker film is currently the most searched word on Google Arabia, after breaking box office records, despite its controversial depiction of violence.
It has enjoyed tremendous success, topping the box office both domestically and overseas. The film, written by Phillips and Scott Silver, is rated R for strong bloody violence and disturbing behavior.
Earlier, the “Joker” received an eight-minute standing ovation during its world premiere at Venice Film Festival.
The film, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Batman’s nemesis and directed by Todd Phillips, is already sparking awards buzz, with Venice artistic director Alberto Barbera saying it is headed “straight to the Oscars”.

The film’s director also revealed that Joker’s story will be completely original, and will not follow any previously published comic books that feature the character.
The film's depiction of violence has put critics and authorities on edge, yet the backlash against "Joker" didn't stop audiences from heading to theaters in record numbers to see it.
The domestic box office is down roughly 5% compared to last year, but there are many potential blockbusters still on the schedule. Films like "Frozen 2," "Jumanji: The Next Level," "Cats" and the final chapter of the Skywalker saga, "Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker" open over the next few months.
