Johnson Invites Putin to Int'l Summit Over Coronavirus Vaccine

Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK) has invited Russia's President Vladimir Putin to take part in an international virtual summit to discuss mechanisms to develop a vaccine against the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The envisioned summit may convene early in June.

UK Embassy in Moscow revealed in a statement issued yesterday, that the British Premier had invited the Russian leader to participate in the Global Vaccine Summit 2020 held on June 4 via the video conference channel.

The international meeting is expected to focus on how to mobilize the world's resources needed by the Global Association for Vaccines and Inoculations (GAVI) to develop a vaccine against the deadly virus of corona. The orchestrated efforts seek to provide a vaccine to all needs it around the world.

Dimitry Beskov, spokesman for the Russian presidency, said that Putin had received the invitation through diplomatic channels but any decision hasn't made to respond that invitation yet. Such a decision will be announced later.

On the other hand, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, General Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) said today that he will participate at the summit which the UK is preparing to it, adding that the meeting will be an opportunity to renew the international commitment towards the GAVI.

Ghebreyesus stressed that whole world must to provide the vaccine against the COVID-19, when it is developed , at equal rate to save people across the globe, thanking Johnson for inviting him to that summit.

They discussed how to accelerate vaccine research and development in the near future.

On the other hand, the Representative of the World Health Organization in China, Godin Gallia, has announced that the Chinese authorities constantly reject the requests made by the World Health Organization to participate in the investigation of the emergence of the emerging Coronavirus.

"We know that a (Chinese) national investigation has already been opened, but at this stage we have not been invited to participate.

"The World Health Organization continues to submit requests (to participate in the investigation) to the Chinese authorities," the WHO representative said in an interview with British Sky News on Thursday evening. And the medical authorities.

The representative pointed out that the World Health Organization is very interested in knowing how and the circumstances of the emergence of the virus to prevent a new epidemic, stressing that the Chinese authorities did not allow the WHO to access the documents of the virus testers in Wuhan - Corona Virus Spread Center.

The World Health Organization said earlier that a team of international experts led by the organization had gone to Beijing to assist in investigations into the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

On his part, US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he had seen evidence proving that the new Corona virus came from an institute in Wuhan, considering that the spread of the pandemic is due to China's failure to stop it or its will to do so.

Trump and his Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo have repeatedly criticized China over the virus, saying that Beijing was late in reporting to the international community the real threat posed by COVID-19.
