Liverpool center-back Joel Matip has been selected as the PFA Premier League Player of the Month for September.

The Reds' defender managed to defeat Arsenal's forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Bournemouth's striker Callum Wilson, Leicester City's winger Ricardo Pereira, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez, winning the award following an online vote.

Matip took part in Liverpool's September's encounters against Newcastle United, Chelsea and Sheffield United as he guided his team to achieve and resume their 100 percent start to the current season.

Earlier this month, Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino received the player of the month award with his team Liverpool for August as he has been delivering a remarkable performance with his team during September.

Firmino scooped the award after making two assists in Liverpool 3-1 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League; he netted one goal in the Reds’ hard 2-1 victory over Chelsea.

The Brazilian international was awarded the prize after a public referendum on the club’s official website, allowing Firmino to beat all Liverpool players in September.
