Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino received the player of the month award with his team Liverpool for August as he has been delivering a remarkable performance with his team during September.

Firmino scooped the award after making two assists in Liverpool 3-1 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League; he netted one goal in the Reds' hard 2-1 victory over Chelsea.

The Brazilian international was awarded the prize after a public referendum on the club’s official website, allowing Firmino to beat all Liverpool players in September.

"We played well, we've won games. We had a bit of a setback but we've been able to pull ourselves and win the game," the 28-year-old told Liverpool's official website after winning the prize.

The Brazilian international stressed that the Reds achieved their goals during the last period.

"We've achieved our objectives despite what happened in the last game. It was a slip but we got the job done and we're keeping in control of our rhythm. The team is going from strength to strength," he added.

Last month, Mohamed Salah scooped the player of the month award with his team Liverpool for August as he enjoyed a lovely start to the season scoring three goals.

They are set to host Leicester City in the eighth round of the Premier League at Anfield on Saturday.
