Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba was involved in a traffic accident on the Chugoku region’s Honshu Island, specifically in the Tottori Prefecture, according to reports by NHK television.
The incident occurred when the Prime Minister’s vehicle collided with one of the escort cars in his convoy.
The report indicated that the car carrying Prime Minister Ishiba crashed into a security vehicle that was ahead of it in the procession.
Fortunately, the Prime Minister was unharmed in the accident. While the collision caused a brief delay, the convoy resumed its journey shortly after, following the originally planned route.
Ishiba, who assumed office as Japan’s 65th Prime Minister and has led the Liberal Democratic Party since 2024, was not injured during the incident.
