The Japanese Parliament re-elected Sanae Takaichi as the country’s Prime Minister on Wednesday, following the victory of her Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in the elections held on the 8th of this month.
According to the NHK World-Japan English service, Takaichi first assumed office last October. Since then, her party has formed a new coalition with the Japan Innovation Party.
In the House of Representatives elections held earlier this month, the Liberal Democratic Party secured more than a two-thirds majority of the seats.
The network further noted that Takaichi is scheduled to form her second cabinet later today, although she is expected to reappoint the same ministers to their current posts.
