JAPANDI is a Philosophy; it is more than an interiorinterior style.
It was developed in 2017
Type: it is related to Minimalism design school.
Discretion
Hybrid aesthetic combines the modern-rustic vibe of the Scandinavian design with the traditional elegance that’s associated with Japanese interior design style.
It brings the best of both worlds. Both mainly focuses on creating function-driven spaces rather than abundance of decor.
The JAPANDI design elements & Tips
Mix of light, natural hues, natural woods, darker tones from Japanese style, contrast in hues using natural materials as possible.
Colors
Hues of white, muted pink, blues, green, wormed up with earthy details and wooden elements.
Furniture
Defined by clean lines and an emphasis on practicality. A small different that Scandinavia uses natural wood color, and on the other hand Japanese a bit more refined painted or more elegantly curved shapes. Use both in your space.
Accessories
Have a lesser importance in both styles. Scandinavians are more inclined to cozy and homey feel such as pillows and rugs, and Japanese are more inclined to utilitarian items such as vases or screens.
Vegetation
Heavily rely on natural elements such as plants to breathe a sense of vibrancy into the designed spaces.
