The Embassy of Japan has announced a new initiative to enhance healthcare services in Minya Governorate as part of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects ("KUSANONE" program).
On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, His Excellency Mr. IWAI Fumio, Ambassador-designate of Japan to Egypt, and Dr. Bahaa Youhanna, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Kings Sons Association for Comprehensive Development, signed a grant contract to formalize the partnership.
Under this agreement, Japan will provide a grant of approximately USD 64,500 to improve healthcare facilities in Minya. The funding will equip El Amal Medical Center, the only medical facility in the area, with essential medical equipment, ensuring that local residents have access to vital medical examinations at affordable prices.
During the signing ceremony, Ambassador Iwai expressed his delight at this first collaboration with the Kings Sons Association for Comprehensive Development and his hope that the project will significantly enhance healthcare services in Minya Governorate.
Dr. Bahaa expressed his deep gratitude for Japan’s support through the "KUSANONE" project, reaffirming the association’s commitment to serving the local community. He emphasized that the Kings Sons Association will continue working to provide essential services to Minya’s residents and expressed hope that this project will mark the beginning of a long-term collaboration between the association and the Embassy of Japan.
The "KUSANONE" project plays a key role in Japan’s development cooperation efforts, providing direct financial assistance to non-profit organizations and NGOs to address local community needs. Since its inception in 1994, Japan has funded 181 projects across Egypt, contributing over USD 11 million in partnership with 130 NGOs. These initiatives span education, healthcare, water and sanitation, vocational training, women’s empowerment, and support for individuals with special needs.
