The Japanese government announced it will begin assisting its citizens in leaving the Middle East, a week after the start of the US-Israeli strikes on Iran.
The Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported on Saturday that the government will provide ground transportation for Japanese citizens wishing to leave Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Buses will transport them to Oman or Saudi Arabia, from where they will depart Oman on Sunday and Saudi Arabia on Monday, respectively, on chartered flights.
Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi stated that priority should be given to the elderly, pregnant women, and those with young children.
