Italy started on Saturday a three-day lockdown amid Easter to control the unstoppable rise of the COVID-19 infections.
The state reports daily at least 20,000 new cases in the light of Coronavirus third wave. All kinds of unnecessary movements are prohibited, in addition, all kinds of outdoor gatherings acts are banned.
However, families are allowed to host two adults for family Easter dinners. Prayers will be held at the churches, but people are asked to attend services in their own regions. Pope Francis will deliver his speech in an empty square of St. Peter.
The total number of COVID-19 infections in Italy since the beginning of the pandemic surpassed three million cases and 110,328 deaths. Currently, Europe is hit by a harsh COVID-19 wave leaving the continent under strict restrictions.
