A mayor of a city in an Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea has decided to prevent using Google maps during promenading or hiking there.
He affirmed that many tourists were lost in that city due to misleading suggestions of Google application.
Salvatori Chryas, mayor of Bouni city said that a big number of hikers, large and small vehicles stranded in that city known for its precipitous landscape.
Mountain uneven paths are complicating even for the locals who couldn’t find their way correctly in those dissolute parts of the inner districts.
The mayor warns that Google maps lead the tourists and hikers to very stooping paths.
It is worth to mention that Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea after Cyprus.
Also chairman of Olestra said that Google maps are not accurate when they deal with the Italian cities or villages due to differences between English and Italian languages.
He pointed out the old paper maps are better when they compared with the electronic ones adapted by Google.
Local officials revealed that they installed warning signs everywhere the hikers or tourist go.
Those signs advise people not to use maps introduced by Google at any time.
The mayor has filed a complaint with management of Google because the wrong directions defined by maps.
It is worth to mention that 114 were rescued by emergency respondents in the inner parts of Sardinia last year.
Among those people were two tourists drive a sports vehicle of Borsches type.
Sardinia is famous for its sandy beaches so tourists come to it from all parts of planet.
It is not the only place where tourists are misled by Google maps.
Venice which is well known for networks of canals suffers from the same problem with Google maps despite numerous of signs that warn tourists from using those maps.
