Italy’s Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, expressed his country’s continued support for Libya in reaching a solution to the political crisis to ensure stability, through ongoing engagement with countries involved in Libyan affairs.
During his meeting in Tripoli with Libyan Presidential Council member Musa Al-Koni, as reported by Libya’s Al-Wasat TV on Sunday, the Italian ambassador noted that Italy was the first European country to resume flights with Libya. He added that work is underway to complete the reconstruction and development of Tripoli International Airport.
Al-Koni expressed confidence that the new administration of the Central Bank of Libya will contribute to economic growth and help overcome obstacles to development that have persisted over the past years.
The meeting also addressed joint cooperation between the two countries in sectors such as health, education, archaeological studies, and the economy through joint technical committees. Additionally, they discussed steps Italy has taken with Libya to support agricultural development in the southern regions and complete projects that have been on hold for years.
