The Israeli Channel 12 announced that the Israeli government, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, agreed to hold negotiations between the head of the Mossad, David Barnea, with Qatar and Egypt to release more Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip.

The channel quoted sources as saying that Barnea presented to the Israeli political leadership the outlines of a possible deal to release more Israeli hostages held in Gaza, and obtained the green light to discuss its details with mediators from Egypt and Qatar, taking into account Israeli requests.

This comes despite the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas ) announcing earlier that it would not negotiate with Israel on the exchange of hostages until Israel ends its military operation in the Gaza Strip.
