Palestinians in Gaza City are reporting that they have experienced one of the most intense Israeli bombardments since Israel launched its war on Hamas following the group's unprecedented attack on October 7th.
Israeli tanks are reportedly closing in on the city center from multiple directions.
The Gaza Civil Emergency Service believes that a number of people have been killed, but they have been unable to reach them due to fighting in several districts in the east and west of Gaza City.
The Al-Ahli Baptist hospital has been evacuated, and its patients are being transferred to the overcrowded Indonesian hospital, which is one of the few medical facilities still operational in the area.
Ahead of the assault on Gaza City, the Israeli army issued evacuation orders for several neighborhoods in the center, including Tuffah, Daraj, and the Old City.
Some people fled their districts after receiving an evacuation order, only to discover that the area they had moved to was being bombarded by Israeli forces.
