The Israeli Defense Forces carried out airstrikes on Monday targeting what it described as infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah and Hamas in southern Lebanon.
Israeli strikes hit the town of Alma al-Shaab in the Tyre district, as well as Ain al-Tineh in the Marjayoun district, according to local reports. Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee said the army was “attacking targets belonging to Hezbollah and Hamas in Lebanon.”
Prior to the strikes, the Israeli army issued evacuation warnings to residents of the villages of Anan and Al-Manara. In a statement, Adraee warned that Israeli forces would soon target what he described as Hamas military infrastructure in those areas, urging residents to immediately evacuate buildings identified on military maps and move at least 300 meters away for their safety.
This marked the first evacuation warning issued by the Israeli military in Lebanon since the start of the year. Following the alert, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that local municipalities began evacuating threatened areas, including nearby homes and shops. Roads connecting several villages were also closed as a precaution, while Israeli drones were seen flying at very low altitude over the area.
Despite a ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024, Israel has continued to conduct regular strikes in southern Lebanon, saying they are aimed at preventing Hezbollah from rebuilding its military capabilities after more than a year of hostilities, including two months of open warfare.
