Israel Warns of Imminent Strikes on Villages in South Lebanon

The Israeli army on Monday issued an “immediate” evacuation warning to residents of two villages in southern Lebanon, ahead of planned strikes on what it claimed were Hezbollah-linked targets.

Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee said in a post on X that residents of Kafr Tebnit and Ain Qana should evacuate specific buildings without delay, warning that the Israeli army would soon target what it described as Hezbollah military infrastructure in the area. The statement was reported by Agence France-Presse.

Israel has repeatedly claimed that Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, is attempting to rebuild its military capabilities. Israeli officials have used this claim to justify continued military operations in southern Lebanon.

The warning comes amid ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement reached with Hezbollah in November 2024, which followed more than a year of fighting. Despite the truce, Israeli forces have continued to carry out air strikes across Lebanon.

Israel has also maintained a military presence on five strategic hilltops in southern Lebanon, despite the ceasefire agreement stipulating a full withdrawal of its forces, according to AFP.
