Reuters reported that Israel warned Lebanon it would strike the country hard if Hezbollah intervened in any potential US-Iranian war, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The agency quoted two senior Lebanese officials as saying that Israel had sent an indirect message to Lebanon that it would strike the country hard and target civilian infrastructure if Hezbollah participated in any US-Iranian war.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam had previously expressed deep concern over Hezbollah's contradictory signals, ranging from assurances of non-intervention in support of Iran to statements by Naim Qassem indicating the party would not remain neutral if Tehran were attacked.
