IDF Spokesperson Hidai Zilberman stated that Saudi Arabia was attacked, in 2019, by  Iran, noting that Israeli forces are monitoring all Iran’s movements, expecting the  threat to come from Iraq and Yemen, Elaph published on Friday.

Zilberman pointed out that Iran had attacked Saudi Aramco facilities in September 2019 from Yemen, Iraq and Iranian lands, using dozens of drones and precision-guided munitions, noting that their submarines are on alert for any other Iranian attack.

“IDF submarines are on alert, we are monitoring Iran's movements in the region, Iran may try to attack from Yemen or Iraq, we have information that Iran is developing in Iraq & Yemen drones & missiles that can reach Israel,” Zilberman said in his interview with Saudi news Elaph.

Asked about the incident of an Israeli Navy submarine being spotted crossing the Suez Canal earlier this week, he said that he could not confirm the report. However, he noted that the IDF operates freely in the Middle East and that Israeli submarines sail to “different places, far and near.”

He referred to IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi, when he warned Iran against launching any attack, claiming Iraq and Yemen as Iran's second circle after Lebanon and Syria.

Kochavi has addressed the Iranian threat during a ceremony for exemplary soldiers, warning that Iran will pay a heavy price if any Israeli is targeted.

“We are hearing more and more threats against Israel coming from Iran,” he said.

“If Iran and its partners... attack the State of Israel, they will [pay] a heavy price ... I am simplifying things and describing the situation to our enemies as it is,” he added. “Our retaliation plans are prepared, and they have been practiced.”
