Israel on Monday extended the nationwide closure of schools and workplaces until 8pm on Wednesday, as fighting with Iran entered its third day.
The decision comes amid a joint Israeli-US military operation targeting Iran. In a statement, the Israeli military said that, “in light of the conflict with Iran, and following a new assessment, the Home Front Command has announced that the nationwide restrictions will remain in place until Wednesday evening.”
The statement added: “Gatherings, educational activities and workplaces, except for essential sectors, will remain prohibited.”
The measures were issued by the Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command, which is responsible for civil defense and emergency instructions during wartime.
Authorities said the restrictions apply across the country as part of precautionary steps during the ongoing confrontation with Iran. Essential services, including healthcare, security and critical infrastructure, will continue to operate.
The extension reflects heightened security concerns as the Israel-Iran conflict escalates, with both sides exchanging strikes for a third consecutive day.
