Israel has been actively constructing seven new military bases in southern Syria, signaling an indefinite military presence in the region, according to a report by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, based on satellite images from Planet Lab PBC.

The report confirms that Israeli forces have built at least seven bases, including a strategic military position on Mount Hermon.

The newly established sites stretch from Mount Hermon in the north to Tel Kodnah in the south, near the tri-border area of Syria, Jordan, and Israel.

According to Sputnik, Israel has transitioned from temporary incursions to a more permanent military presence, strengthening control over territories occupied since December 2024.

The Israeli military has positioned itself across Hader, Jabata al-Khashab, al-Hamidiyah, Quneitra, al-Qahtaniyah, and Tel Kodnah, consolidating its hold on 95% of Quneitra province.

Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz reinforced the long-term strategy during a recent visit to the Syrian side of Mount Hermon, stating that Israeli forces would remain in Syria indefinitely.

Reports indicate that Israel has expanded its buffer zone around the Golan Heights, pushing 25 kilometers closer to Damascus.

On February 11, Israel’s military radio revealed that Israel has discreetly established a security zone inside Syrian territory and is constructing nine additional military installations within this zone.

The report further states that the Israeli military plans to maintain its presence in Syria throughout 2025, increasing its deployed forces from a battalion and a half to three brigades following the October 7, 2023, conflict with Hamas.
