Israeli security officials have warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of a possible escalation in rocket fire from Lebanon in the coming days, according to Israeli media reports.
The reports said Israel’s security establishment informed Netanyahu that tensions along the northern front could intensify, with expectations of increased cross-border attacks originating from Lebanese territory.
Israeli media also reported that despite significant efforts to weaken Iran’s military capabilities, Iran still retains the ability to launch missiles, indicating that the threat has not been fully neutralized.
According to reports from Jerusalem, the overall situation on the ground appears calmer compared with previous days, based on assessments by Israeli military and security agencies. These assessments suggest a noticeable decline in the number of missiles launched from Iran toward Israeli territory, which Israel attributes to strikes targeting missile launch platforms.
However, Israeli officials remain concerned about the possible use of a specific type of fragmentation missile believed to carry cluster munitions. According to the report, some of these munitions previously reached Israeli territory, killing two Israelis and causing damage to at least 16 sites.
The Israeli military also said it had detected missiles launched from Iran toward Israeli territory. Air raid sirens were activated in some areas, although residents were not instructed to immediately seek shelter, as the missiles were reportedly intercepted before entering Israeli airspace.
The warnings come amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing military exchanges involving Israel and Iran, raising concerns about the potential expansion of the conflict to additional fronts, including the Lebanese border.
