The Israeli military claimed on Friday that it successfully eliminated Mohammed al-Jaabari, who served as the deputy head of the weapons manufacturing division within the Palestinian "Jihad" resistance movement.
This came just a week after Israel took responsibility for an operation that targeted a structure in Beirut, resulting in the assassination of Fouad Shukr, a military leader associated with "Hezbollah."
Additionally, the Israeli military reported on Thursday that Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas’ military wing, was killed in an airstrike in Gaza last month, occurring shortly after the assassination of the group's political leader in Tehran.
Deif is believed to have played a significant role in orchestrating Hamas’ attack on southern Israel on October 7, which subsequently ignited conflict in the Palestinian territory.
“The Israel army confirms that on July 13th, 2024, IDF fighter jets conducted strikes in the Khan Yunis area, and based on intelligence assessments, it has been verified that Mohammed Deif was neutralized in the operation,” stated the military.
Hamas has not officially confirmed or denied Deif's death; however, Ezzat Rashaq, a Hamas official, indicated that any announcements regarding the demise of its leaders are solely the organization's responsibility.
“Unless either the political or military leadership of Hamas makes an announcement, any information disseminated by the media or other entities cannot be verified,” Rashaq remarked.
This announcement from Israel coincided with large gatherings in Tehran for the funeral of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas.
