Islamic Values..Zuhd

Egypt's Dar al-Iftaa explains an Islamic value. So that people learn the truth of Islam and the morals of the Prophet peace be upon him.

Asceticism means living a very simple life and denouncing worldly pleasures. The Messenger of God [pbuh] said, “Do with little of this world and God will love you and do with little of what belongs to other people and people will love you” [Ibn Majah]. Muhammad, God’s blessing and peace be upon him, was the most ascetic person, so much so, that asceticism became one of his virtuous characteristics.

When the Prophet [pbuh] died, he left neither a dinar nor a dirham nor a male slave or a female slave, nor anything except his white riding mule, his weapons, and his land that he had given to charity. ‘Aa’ishah [may God be pleased with her] said, "The Prophet [pbuh] died when my house was void of any edible thing, except for a small quantity of barley I had on a shelf from which I had been eating for a long time." Moreover, the Messenger of God [pbuh] died while his armor was pawned to a Jew for some barley.

Hadith on Zuhd

‘Aa’ishah [may God be pleased with her] said, "The Prophet [pbuh] died when my house was void of any edible thing, except for a small quantity of barley I had on a shelf from which I had been eating for a long time." Moreover, the Messenger of God [pbuh] died while his armor was pawned to a Jew for some barley.
