High-level officials from Iraq and Iran met on Tuesday to reaffirm their commitment to joint action in support of regional stability and bilateral growth.
The meeting took place in Baghdad between Fuad Hussein, Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Vahid Jalalzadeh, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular and Parliamentary Affairs. According to a statement from the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, the discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors to serve mutual interests.

The move is aimed at resolving outstanding consular issues and streamlining administrative processes for citizens traveling between the two neighboring countries.
Promoting Regional Peace Beyond bilateral administrative matters, Minister Fuad Hussein and Deputy Minister Jalalzadeh discussed the broader geopolitical landscape. They emphasized that a strong partnership between Baghdad and Tehran is a cornerstone for enhancing security and fostering a "peaceful environment" in the Middle East.
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry highlighted that this diplomatic engagement is part of Iraq’s ongoing effort to balance its foreign relations and act as a bridge for dialogue in the region, while Iran reaffirmed its readiness to support Iraq’s developmental and stability goals.
