The Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, asked the Swedish ambassador, Thursday, to leave the country, Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.
The agency stated that Al-Sudani ordered the withdrawal of the Iraqi charge d'affaires from Sweden.
The move came after Baghdad threatened Stockholm to sever diplomatic relations if the Qur'an was allowed to be burned again.
Early Thursday, protesters stormed the Swedish embassy and set it on fire, which led to Stockholm announcing the indefinite closure of its embassy and the evacuation of its staff.
