Iran's Minister of Health, Saeed Namki sent a message to the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei asking him to intervene to check the fifth wave of the Coronavirus  (known also as COVID10-9).

The Iranian minister explained to Khamenei the seriousness of the deteriorating health situation in the country as the medical crews suffer from ongoing stress.

He pointed out that through full quarantine runs for two weeks, Iran can overcome the current wave of infections with COVID-19, recommending application of precautionary measurements strictly and urging security forces to punish those who violate the law.

On his part, Khamenei directed the elect-president Ibrahim Raisi to discuss the suggestion of the Health Minister ahead of imposing the national full close down to fight COVID-19.

On the other hand, Iran reported today, Monday, 37 thousand confirmed infections with the deadly virus. According to official media outlets, the newly registered figure is the highest in Iran since the outbreak of the disease.

Iran also registered 91 thousand death which is the highest in the Middle East.

The mutated" Delta" strain is responsible for the spike in recent infections.

Iranian officials said that less than 40% of the population adhere to wearing facial masks and social distance.

They warn that hospitals in Tehran and the other main cities are crowded by patients infected by COVID-19.

The Minister of Health in Iran added that the army will help carry out the closedown.

He claimed on June 15 that Iran will be one of the leading producers of the anti-corona vaccines in the world by the end of the current summer.

During opening several hospitals in Isfahan last Tuesday, he pointed out that the local-made vaccines will be distributed soon to culminate efforts to contain the pandemic throughout the last year.

He revealed that some producers of the vaccines failed to honor their obligations to deliver the vaccines on time.
