Iranian Team Visits Saudi Arabia for re-opening Embassy

Iran intends to send a technical team to Saudi Arabia this week to discuss mechanisms for reopening the Iranian embassy in the Kingdom, after Tehran received a Saudi technical team to discuss reopening the Saudi embassy in Tehran and the Kingdom's consulate in the city of Mashhad.

The Iranian media quoted sources as saying, “A technical delegation from Iran is visiting Saudi Arabia this week, and the Iranian delegation will visit Tehran’s embassy in Riyadh and discuss preparations for its reopening.”

Earlier, the foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia signed a joint statement, at the end of their talks in the Chinese capital, Beijing, which stipulated the start of arrangements to reopen embassies and consulates and expand bilateral relations and cooperation.

According to the statement, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian agreed with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, to resume the exchange of visits by officials and private sector delegations.
