Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin for high-level talks in Moscow.

Kazem Jalali, Iran's Ambassador to Russia, confirmed the meeting, stating that the senior Iranian security official and the Russian President held their discussions at the Kremlin, according to the Iranian Tasnim News Agency.

The primary focus of the talks was the expansion of bilateral relations, particularly economic ties between the two nations.

Additionally, both sides consulted on significant regional and international issues.

This meeting comes at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump has escalated his rhetoric, threatening new military action against Iran. Washington recently deployed the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and its strike group to West Asia, near Iranian waters.

Senior Iranian officials have maintained that Tehran does not oppose dialogue and diplomacy, provided it is genuine, balanced, and based on mutual respect with concrete guarantees.
