The Iranian Army announced on Sunday carrying out military drills on its borders with Iraq in the Iranian city of Qasr-e Shirin, Kermanshah governorate.

According to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), as reported by Russia Today, Governor of Qasr-e Shirin Morad Ali Tatar said that the armed forces are participating in the exercises to show their capabilities. He stressed that "Iran's armed forces are fully prepared to face any attack on the country.

Tatar added that the Iranian army managed to maintain the security in the borders of Qasr-e Shirin along 186 km with Iraq, and this city is considered one of the most secure areas in the country."

Last Thursday, the "Al-Nabi Al-Aazam" military drills were launched in Southwestern Iran region, coinciding with the 42nd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution in Tehran.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) announced that these exercises are aimed at a field assessment of the combat and defense capabilities and equipment of the IRGC`s ground force.
